Alyssa Carpenter

Veterinarian

Dr. Carpenter grew up in a small rural town in Ohio, where her love for veterinary medicine began at a young age through caring for her horses and volunteering at a local mixed-animal practice. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Equine Science and Management from the University of Kentucky before pursuing her veterinary degree at St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada, West Indies.

During her time in Grenada, Dr. Carpenter developed a passion for animal welfare and community service. She served as president of the Animal Welfare & Behavior Society, organized puppy training classes for students and faculty, and participated in animal welfare assessment contests. Her involvement in the One Health One Medicine Club took her to the neighboring island of Carriacou, where she provided preventative care, client education, and outreach to underserved communities. These experiences gave her invaluable opportunities to adapt to diverse cultures and clinical environments while shaping her well-rounded approach to patient care.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Carpenter enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, staying active at the gym, and hiking with friends. Her background also includes years of horseback riding and rodeo, passions that first fueled her journey into veterinary medicine.

Now, as she begins her career on Maui, Dr. Carpenter is excited to serve the people and pets of the community and to partner with the dedicated team at Animal Care and Wellness Center. She looks forward to building lasting connections, growing as a clinician, and contributing to the well-being of Maui’s families, animals, and veterinary community.
